The Killingworth Historical Society was founded in 1976 as a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of Killingworth, Connecticut and the surrounding towns of East Haddam and Haddam. The Society is located in the old Killingworth Town Hall, a former firehouse, which was renovated and opened to the public in 1995.

The Society's mission is to promote an understanding and appreciation of the history of Killingworth, Connecticut by collecting, preserving, and exhibiting artifacts and documents related to the town's past. The Society also provides educational programs, events, and lectures for the public, as well as genealogical research services.

The Society's collections include artifacts, photographs, and other materials related to the history of Killingworth, Connecticut, such as documents from the town's founding in 1703, photographs of the town's buildings, and artifacts from the area's Native American, Colonial, and Revolutionary War eras. The Society also maintains an extensive archive of newspaper clippings, books, and periodicals.

The Society is open to the public and admission is free. Visitors can explore the Society's archives and collections, attend lectures, and participate in educational programs. The Society also offers an online store where visitors can purchase books, DVDs, and other items related to the history of Killingworth, Connecticut.
