The Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry is located on the campus of the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT. Founded in 1984, the Ballard Institute is dedicated to the preservation and appreciation of puppetry and its related arts. The museum houses a collection of over 1500 puppets from around the world, including Punch and Judy, shadow, marionette, hand, rod and object puppets. The museum also houses a large library, which includes books and videos about puppetry, as well as rare and out-of-print books about puppetry and related topics.

In addition to its museum and library, the Ballard Institute also offers a variety of educational programs and performances.
