The Buttolph-Williams House is a historic home located in Wethersfield, Connecticut. It was built in 1711 by a wealthy merchant named Isaac Stevens and later purchased by two prominent families, the Buttolphs and Williamses. The house is a prime example of early Georgian architecture and has been well-preserved over the years.

The exterior of the house boasts a symmetrical design with red brick and white trim. It has a central chimney and a steeply-pitched roof. The interior of the home has a traditional layout, with a central hall flanked by two rooms on either side. The rooms are decorated with period furnishings and artwork, providing visitors with a glimpse into colonial life.

In addition to its architectural significance, the Buttolph-Williams House has an interesting history. During the American Revolution, it served as a headquarters for General George Washington, who used the house as a base of operations during the 1781 Battle of Wethersfield. The home was also used as a stop on the Underground Railroad, with the Williams family reportedly sheltering escaped slaves.

Today, the Buttolph-Williams House is open to the public and serves as a museum. Visitors can take guided tours of the home and learn about its history and the people who lived there. The house is a treasured landmark in Wethersfield and a must-visit destination for anyone interested in colonial history.
