The Whale Project in Juneau, Alaska is an effort to help protect and restore the local whale population. The project was founded in 1997 by the Juneau Whale Council in collaboration with the North Pacific Whale Foundation. The goal of the project is to reduce the amount of human-caused mortality of whales in the Juneau area, as well as to monitor the health of the whale population.

The Whale Project focuses mainly on four species of whales: humpback, minke, killer, and gray whales. The project seeks to reduce human-caused mortality and disturbance of whales in the Juneau area by educating the public on proper whale-watching etiquette and providing information on the regulations and restrictions in place to protect whales. The project also works to protect the whales by monitoring their health and analyzing the data collected.

In addition to its research and educational efforts, the Whale Project also works to restore the whale population in the Juneau area. This includes a number of projects such as habitat restoration, reintroduction of whales to their natural habitats, and research into the effects of climate change on whales.

The Whale Project is an important part of the effort to protect and restore the whale population in the Juneau area. It is a critical part of the conservation efforts in the area and is helping to ensure that the whales of the Juneau area are able to thrive for generations to come.
