The Loveland Historical Society Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the history of Loveland, Colorado and the surrounding region. Founded in 1972, the Society has grown to become an active and vibrant organization that seeks to collect, preserve, and interpret the history of the area for the benefit of both present and future generations.
The Society is composed of a volunteer Board of Directors, as well as many other members, volunteers, and supporters. They are actively involved in various projects and events to promote the awareness and appreciation of Loveland's unique history.
The Society operates the Little Thompson Valley Historical Museum, a museum and research library located in the heart of downtown Loveland. The Museum and Library are open to the public and contain a variety of artifacts, photographs, books and other documents. The Society also sponsors many educational programs, including tours of historic sites, lectures on local history, and seminars on historical research.
The Society also works to preserve the area's historic buildings and structures, as well as its buildings of cultural and architectural significance. In addition, the Society works to identify, preserve and interpret the area's archaeological resources and to promote public awareness of Loveland's history.
The Loveland Historical Society Inc. is a vital part of the community, providing a valuable resource for the people of Loveland to learn about and appreciate the city's past. This organization serves as an important link between Loveland's past and its present, and will continue to do so for many years to come.
