The Friends of the Jesse Lee Home (FJLH) is a volunteer-driven non-profit organization based in Seward, Alaska. Founded in 2008, FJLH seeks to preserve and share the history and culture of the Jesse Lee Home, a children’s home that served the Seward area from 1908-1941. FJLH works to identify, preserve, and interpret the important historical information associated with the Home and the people who lived and worked there.

FJLH is dedicated to preserving and protecting the Jesse Lee Home and its surrounding property. Through the development of a Preservation Plan and the organization of volunteer-driven cleanups and maintenance activities, FJLH works to protect and restore the historic structure. In addition, FJLH is committed to preserving the history and culture of the Home by researching and collecting oral histories, artifacts, and documents associated with the Home.

FJLH works closely with the City of Seward and other local organizations to develop educational programs for the community. Through its historic preservation and educational initiatives, FJLH seeks to instill in the community an appreciation for the history of the Jesse Lee Home and Seward’s heritage.

FJLH is always looking for volunteers to help with its efforts. Volunteers can assist with clean up activities, research, and educational programs. FJLH also welcomes donations to help fund its initiatives.
