The Regents of the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado is a nine-member governing body responsible for overseeing the operations and management of the University of Colorado. The Regents are appointed by the Governor of Colorado and serve as the governing body of the University of Colorado.
The Regents develop policies and strategies to ensure the University of Colorado meets its mission of providing high-quality research, teaching and service to the state of Colorado and its citizens. The Regents are the legal and fiduciary agents of the University of Colorado and are responsible for all aspects of university governance, including setting tuition and fees, approving budgets and personnel decisions, and managing the University's physical resources.
The Regents meet twice a year as a full Board, and also may meet in committees with specific areas of responsibility to carry out the Board's business. The Board is also responsible for appointing the President of the University of Colorado, and is involved in other major decisions that affect the University.
The Board of Regents is composed of nine members, each of whom is appointed by the Governor of Colorado and serves for a six-year term. The Board's members are drawn from a variety of professional backgrounds, including public administration, business, law, education and other related fields.
