HIGH PLAINS HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The High Plains Historical Society (HPHS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the rich history of the High Plains region of Nunn County, Colorado. Founded in 1975, HPHS works to educate the public about the area’s past, its people, and the unique stories that make up the fabric of the community.

HPHS is based in a historic schoolhouse in downtown Nunn, Colorado. The organization is governed by a board of directors and a volunteer staff. HPHS offers a variety of educational events, activities, and programs throughout the year, including lectures, tours, workshops, and special events.

HPHS is home to an extensive library and archives, which contains thousands of books, original documents, photographs, maps, and artifacts. The library and archives are open to the public for research and exploration. HPHS also operates a Museum, which houses a variety of exhibits and displays depicting the history of the High Plains region.

In addition to its educational mission, HPHS is dedicated to preserving the area’s historic buildings and sites by providing grants and technical assistance to local preservation projects. HPHS also partners with local businesses and organizations to promote historic tourism in the area.

Through its dedication and commitment to preserving the history of the High Plains region, HPHS continues to serve as a valuable resource to the community.
