The Montrose Botanical Society Inc. (MBSI) is a non-profit organization located in Montrose, Colorado. It was founded in 1987 to protect and preserve the native plant communities of Montrose County and the surrounding area. The Society is dedicated to promoting an appreciation and understanding of native plants, while also conserving and promoting their wise use.

MBSI's membership includes over 200 members who are devoted to the study and conservation of native plants and their habitats. The Society provides educational programming for adults and children, as well as field trips, lectures and workshops. The Society also maintains a library of books and videos about native plants, and hosts an annual Native Plant Sale.

The Society works in cooperation with local landowners, government agencies, and other organizations to manage and conserve native plants. In addition, MBSI works to increase public awareness of the importance of native plant conservation.

The Society also works to restore native plant habitats, such as riparian areas and wetlands, and to enhance the public's understanding and appreciation of native plants.

MBSI plays an active role in the development of land-use policies, and is an advocate of the National Environmental Policy Act.

The Society's programs are funded through grants, donations, and memberships. All proceeds are used to fund the Society's educational and conservation programs.

MBSI is a valuable resource for the community, providing access to information about native plants, and promoting their wise use.
