The Monument Historical Society in Monument, Colorado was established in 1947 to preserve and promote the history of the Monument and surrounding area. The Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to collecting, preserving, and interpreting the history of the area. Its mission is to collect, preserve, interpret, and promote the history of Monument, Colorado and the surrounding area.
The Monument Historical Society owns and operates the Monument Pioneer Museum, a 10,000-square-foot facility dedicated to the preservation and appreciation of Monument's history. The museum features permanent and temporary exhibits, educational programs, and a research library. The museum also houses the Monument Historical Society's collection of artifacts, photographs, documents, and books.
The Monument Historical Society also maintains an active calendar of events and programs for the local community. Events include an annual Monument Pioneer Days Festival, lectures, educational programs, and other special events. The Society also offers a variety of volunteer opportunities, from helping with museum events and exhibits to conducting historical research.
The Monument Historical Society is a member of the Colorado Historical Society and is affiliated with the American Association for State and Local History.
