The Park County Historical Society (PCHS) was founded in Bailey, Colorado, in 1964 with the goal of preserving the history of Park County, Colorado. It is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and interpreting the history of Park County, as well as providing educational programs and activities to the local community.
The PCHS is located in the historic Bailey Bank Building, a two-story building constructed in 1893. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and houses the Park County History Museum, which contains artifacts, photographs, and other items related to Park County’s history.
The PCHS also holds an annual county fair during the second weekend of August. The fair includes a parade, arts and crafts, and a variety of food vendors. There are also educational programs and activities related to Park County’s history, such as historical tours and presentations.
The PCHS sponsors several other events throughout the year, including a Pioneer Day celebration in June, and a Christmas celebration in December. The PCHS also hosts lectures and other special events related to Park County’s history.
The PCHS is funded through private donations, grants, and membership fees. Membership is open to anyone interested in preserving and promoting Park County’s history. The PCHS also has various volunteer opportunities available, including docent positions, archival research, and more.
