The Cripple Creek District Museum, located in Cripple Creek, Colorado, is a historical museum, dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of the history of the Colorado Gold Rush, and the early days of the Cripple Creek Mining District. The museum’s mission is to tell the story of the Cripple Creek Mining District and its people, from the prospectors and miners of the 1890s, to the miners and mill workers of the 20th century.
The Museum houses a large permanent collection of artifacts and photographs, as well as a variety of educational programs and exhibits. The Museum’s permanent collection includes items such as ore carts, tools, and photographs from the gold rush days, as well as artifacts from the heyday of the Cripple Creek Mining District. The Museum also has a wide variety of temporary exhibits, which focus on the history of the Cripple Creek District.
