The Wasilla-Knik-Willow Creek Historical Society is a non-profit organization based in Wasilla, Alaska, that is dedicated to collecting, preserving and sharing the local history of the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. Founded in 1980, the Society collects and maintains artifacts, photographs, and archival materials that relate to the history of Wasilla, Knik, and Willow Creek. The Society also offers educational programs on local history, as well as providing an outlet for researchers to access its archives.

The Society's museum is located in Wasilla, and is open to the public. It houses displays and exhibits on the history of the Mat-Su Valley, including artifacts from early Native inhabitants, pioneering families, and the history of Wasilla and Knik. There are also special exhibits throughout the year, as well as a gift shop.

The Society also publishes books on local history, and hosts events such as lectures, workshops, and field trips. In addition, the Society is involved in numerous projects, including the restoration and preservation of the historic Wasilla Church, the preservation of the Knik River's history, and the preservation of the Knik-Willow Creek Trail. The Society also works in partnership with other organizations to further its mission.

Distant dipper American dipper - Cinclus mexicanus Juvenile, periodically being fed by adult. I never could get close to either of them, but it was fun to watch. My friend D found the bird and directed the rest of us to it.

SBG Short-billed Gull - Larus brachyrhynchus (or Larus canus brachyrhynchus) Came in trying to get a handout from picnickers at Gold Cord Lake.
Pika Collared Pika - Ochotona collaris Distant view--a friend saw them much closer earlier, but they retreated with more human traffic.
HM Hoary marmot - Marmota caligata Several were active along trails in this area. This one came up close and crossed the trail near us, perhaps responding to a territorial intruder on the other side. I wish I had been able to record their loud whistle.
