GREELEY FREIGHT STATION

The Greeley Freight Station is a historic railroad building located in Greeley, Colorado. Built in 1887, the freight station was used for loading, unloading, and storing freight for trains that traveled between Denver and northern Colorado. The station was originally built as part of the Union Pacific Railway.
Constructed in a Classical Revival style, the two-story, brick building features a two-story tower, a symmetrical façade, and round-arched windows. The building was designed to accommodate various businesses, including the telegraph office and a ticket office. The building also included a south-facing waiting room, a large freight room, and several offices.
The freight station was an important part of Greeley’s economic growth, as it connected the city to the rest of the state. In 2003, the station was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, the building is leased out to local businesses. The Greeley Freight Station continues to serve as a reminder of Greeley’s railroad history and its role in the city’s development.
