The Huntsville Botanical Garden is located in Huntsville, Alabama and is a popular destination for visitors of all ages. It covers 110 acres of lush gardens, nature trails, and outdoor spaces. The Garden is filled with year-round beauty and offers a variety of attractions, events and activities.

The Garden includes a Butterfly House with thousands of beautiful butterflies; a Nature Center with interactive displays and live animals; a Maze Garden with a hedge maze, a children’s maze, and a topiary garden; a seasonal Children’s Garden with a treehouse and a water park; a Japanese Garden with a koi pond and a tea house; a Wildlife Habitat Garden with a variety of native plants and animals; and a vegetable and herb garden.

The Garden also offers special events throughout the year, such as the Huntsville Blooms Festival and the Huntsville Symphony in the Garden. The Garden also has a variety of educational opportunities, including gardening classes and field trips for school groups.

The Huntsville Botanical Garden is a beautiful and peaceful place to explore and enjoy nature. Visitors can explore the Garden’s many attractions, enjoy seasonal events, and learn about gardening and the natural world.

Rockets Away! 2012 Student Launch Projects (NASA, Marshall, 4/22/12) Specially crafted rockets soared high into the skies April 22 at the 2011-12 NASA Student Launch Projects challenge. More than 500 students, representing 53 middle schools, high schools, colleges and universities in 28 states, launched rockets of their own design -- complete with working science payloads or engineering payloads -- at Bragg Farms in Toney, Ala. The students vied to see whose rocket could come closest to the 1-mile altitude goal and safely return its onboard science payload to Earth. Fifty-one teams took part, though two faced mechanical or technical issues and did not launch. Ten preliminary awards were presented, and the grand prize -- $5,000 from ATK Aerospace Group in Salt Lake City, Utah -- will be awarded May 18 after final post-flight analysis and review are complete. This is the fifth year ATK has sponsored Student Launch Projects. Great Moonbuggy Race, 1994 (NASA, Marshall, Archive, 1994) The NASA Great Moonbuggy Race is an annual event, held at the US Space and Rocket Center and organized by the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., in which high school and college students are challenged to design, build and race lightweight, human-powered moonbuggies that tackle many of the same engineering challenges dealt with by Apollo-era lunar rover developers at Marshall in the late 1960s. This photograph of the University of Alabama at Huntsville moonbuggy team was taken during the first running of the event at Redstone Arsenal in 1994 over the actual course where the original lunar roving vehicles were tested. LAGEOS I Laser Geodynamics Satellite (NASA, Marshall, Archive, 1976) The LAGEOS I, Laser Geodynamics Satellite, was launched on May 4,1976 from Vandenberg Air Force Base, California. The two-foot diameter, 900-pound satellite orbited the Earth from pole to pole and measured the movements of the Earth's surface relative to earthquakes, continental drift, and other geophysical phenomena. The mirrored surface of the satellite precisely reflected laser beams from ground stations for accurate ranging measurements. Scientists at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala. came up with the idea for the satellite and built it at the Marshall Center. TBEX Comes to NASA NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center hosted participants attending The Travel Blog Exchange conference for a tour of the center May 4, 2017. TBEX is the largest conference and networking event for travel bloggers, online travel journalists and social media enthusiasts. The group toured facilities that are building hardware for the Space Launch System, NASA’s new rocket, and also got visit the Payload Operations Integration Center which monitors science experiments for the International Space Station 24-hours a day, 7-days a week, 365-days a year.
