Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site is an open-air history museum and living history farm located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The ranch covers 160 acres of land, and is a National Register of Historic Places site that is managed by the City of Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department. The site features a summer living history program, a homestead house from the 1880s, a former stage stop building, a barn, a blacksmith shop, a one-room schoolhouse, a granary, and a working garden.
The living history program at Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site tells the story of the people who lived in the area from the 1840s to the 1940s. The ranch staff dress in period clothing and demonstrate activities such as farming, blacksmithing, cooking, and crafts. In addition, there are special events such as Civil War reenactments, Old West shows, and Native American programs.
The homestead house was built by the J.C. Emery family in the early 1800s, and features many original features including a stick and mud chimney, a hand-hewn log wall, and a hand-dug well. The stage stop building was once a way station for travelers on their way to Pikes Peak. The ranch also features a working garden that grows heirloom vegetables and fruits, and a variety of animals including chickens, sheep, and goats.
Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site is open year-round, and visitors can enjoy guided tours and educational programs. The site also offers an outdoor venue for weddings and special events.
