Centinela Adobe is an historic adobe structure located in Inglewood, California. Built in 1834 by José María Avila, this two-story building is an important part of California’s past. It was the hub of a large rancho that encompassed more than 25,000 acres, and served as the center of political, economic, and social life for the region. The adobe is now a designated California Historical Landmark, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The adobe is a two-story structure built of adobe bricks and red tile roofs. It features four large arched entranceways and a large courtyard. Inside, visitors will find two large rooms with a large fireplace in the center. There are also four smaller rooms, two of which were used as bedrooms.
The adobe is now owned by the City of Inglewood and is open to the public.
