The Film Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles, California. Founded in 1990 by Martin Scorsese, the foundation is dedicated to the preservation and restoration of motion pictures, with a particular focus on American films. It is funded by contributions from the film industry, including major studios and independent film companies, as well as private donations.

The Film Foundation’s mission is to preserve and restore film heritage by working to provide access to classic films and to educate the public about the importance of film preservation. It has partnered with the Museum of Modern Art and the Library of Congress, among other organizations, to provide educational resources and film screenings. It also works with studios to restore and archive films from their libraries, making them accessible to the public.
