The Franklin D. Murphy Sculpture Garden is a 4.5-acre outdoor gallery located on the campus of the University of California, Los Angeles. The garden features over 70 sculptures, including works by renowned artists such as Alexander Calder, Henry Moore, and Isamu Noguchi. The garden is named in honor of Franklin D. Murphy, the chancellor of UCLA from 1960 to 1968.
The garden is divided into different sections, each featuring a different type of sculpture. The largest area, the “Central Garden,” consists of a large reflecting pool surrounded by a number of abstract sculptures. This section also includes a large bronze sculpture of the Greek goddess Nike. Other areas include the “Arboretum,” which features sculptures of animals; the “Lawn,” which is home to a variety of modern and abstract works; the “North Garden,” which features classical sculptures; and the “South Garden,” which includes a variety of outdoor furniture and other decorative elements.
The garden is open to the public and provides visitors with an opportunity to explore and appreciate the beauty of sculpture in a natural setting. In addition to its sculptures, the garden features a variety of plants, trees, and flowers, as well as a unique collection of koi fish. The garden is also a popular spot for weddings and special events.
