The Encinitas Historical Society is dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of Encinitas, California. The Society was founded in 1987 and has since grown and expanded its programming to become a valuable asset to the community.
The Society offers a variety of activities to keep the history of Encinitas alive, such as educational programs, speaker series, walking tours and an annual Encinitas Heritage Day celebration. Through these events, visitors and locals alike can gain an appreciation of the city’s culture, history, and architecture.
The Society is housed in the 1883 Olivenhain Town Hall, and its museum features a variety of permanent and rotating exhibits that tell the story of Encinitas’ past. The Society also offers a research library, which is open to the public and houses the Society’s vast collection of books, photographs, and other documents related to Encinitas’ history.
The Society is also involved in a variety of civic projects, from restoring historic buildings to preserving open spaces. Through its work, the Society strives to ensure that the unique history and heritage of Encinitas is preserved for future generations.
