The Chinese Historical Society of Southern California (CHSSC) is a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles, California. Founded in 1973, CHSSC seeks to preserve the history of Chinese Americans in Southern California, promote the study of Chinese American history and culture, and provide resources for research and education.
CHSSC offers a wide range of programs and activities, including educational lectures and symposia, book and film discussions, exhibits, and special events. Through its publications and public programming, CHSSC works to document and share the cultural contributions of Chinese Americans to Southern California’s diverse history. The museum collection includes artifacts from the 19th century to present day, including paintings, prints, photographs, ceramics, sculptures, furniture, and clothing. CHSSC also hosts a variety of rotating exhibitions, many of which focus on the Chinese American experience in Southern California.
