The Placer County Historical Society (PCHS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the cultural and historical heritage of Placer County, California. Established in 1964, the PCHS has been actively involved in preserving, interpreting, and displaying the history of the county for over 50 years. The PCHS is based in Auburn, California and its headquarters is located in the historic Courthouse Museum, a unique building built in 1861.

The PCHS offers a variety of educational programs and events that bring the history of Placer County to life. The museum offers guided tours, lectures, and special presentations that explore the rich history of the area. The museum also hosts a wide range of events throughout the year, such as an annual county fair, the Gold Rush Days celebration, and the Placer County Pioneer Days.

The PCHS also maintains a collection of artifacts and documents related to Placer County history. The collection includes books, newspapers, photographs, maps, and even artifacts from local Gold Rush sites. The society also provides access to its library, which consists of over 10,000 books and periodicals.

The PCHS is actively involved in preserving and presenting local history and culture.
