USS Croatan at Brookley AFB USS Croatan AVE-25 was a Bogue class Aircraft Escort Vessel built in 1942 and was redesignated as an Escort Carrier CVE-25 in 1943, later redesignated as an Escort Helicopter Aircraft Carrier (CVHE-25 in 1955. While under control of MSTS it was reclassified as an Utility Aircraft Carrier (T-CVU-43). Here it is shown as a Cargo Ship and Aircraft Ferry (T-AKV-43) loading helicopters of the 1st Cavalry Division at the Brookley AFB Ocean Terminal in 1965.
