Salinas / “Day or Remembrance Memorial Garden” (# 0076) The “Day or Remembrance Memorial Garden” in Salinas, near the Rodeo Grounds where Monterey area Japanese were involuntarily assembled before being sent to internment camps (mostly to the Poston Internment camp) during WWII. There is an an excellent Youtube (link below) depicting this garden and then with extensive pictures of the makeshift barracks on the rodeo grounds. The Densho Encyclopedia entry on the detention facility also gives an excellent and detailed description.
