The Buffalo Bill Memorial Association in Cody, Wyoming is dedicated to preserving the legacy of the legendary western showman, William F. “Buffalo Bill” Cody. Founded in 1917, the Association is a non-profit organization that owns and operates the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, a world-class museum complex with five museums and a research library.
The Center of the West is a museum complex comprised of the Buffalo Bill Museum, the Whitney Gallery of Western Art, the Draper Natural History Museum, the Plains Indian Museum, and the Cody Firearms Museum. These five museums offer visitors a unique opportunity to learn about the history, people, and culture of the American West.
The Buffalo Bill Memorial Association also hosts a variety of events throughout the year, such as the Cody Stampede Rodeo, the Wyoming State Fair, and the Old West Days Celebration. The Association also offers educational programs for children and adults, such as the Buffalo Bill Summer Camp and the Buffalo Bill Field School.
The Association is dedicated to preserving the legacy of Buffalo Bill, and in addition to the museum complex and special events, it also seeks to protect the historic sites associated with his life. These sites include the Buffalo Bill Museum Ranch, the Irma Hotel, and the Buffalo Bill Dam.
