The Historic Tugboat Education & Restoration Society (HTERM) is a non-profit organization based in Sausalito, California. Founded in 2012, HTERM is dedicated to the preservation and education of tugboats and their history.

HTERM operates out of their headquarters in Sausalito’s Historic Harbor, alongside other local maritime organizations. The organization is dedicated to the preservation of tugboats, their historic and environmental value, and their role in the development of the Bay Area.

The organization works with the public, local government, and other maritime organizations to maintain historic tugboats and facilitate their use in educational programs. HTERM provides educational programs and tours for visitors, and partners with local schools and organizations to provide hands-on experience and instruction in the operation of tugboats.

HTERM also works to restore historic vessels and keep them in use. The organization has been involved in the restoration of several tugboats, and has helped to preserve them for future generations.

HTERM’s work is supported by donations and grants, as well as by the efforts of volunteers and staff. The organization has been recognized for its dedication to maritime preservation and education, and was recently honored with the Golden Gate Award for Excellence in Maritime Heritage Education.
