The Ojai Valley Whale Society (OVWS) is a local non-profit organization established to protect the Southern California coastal marine environment. Located in Ojai, California, the society works to educate the public about the importance of marine conservation, and to protect and restore local marine habitats. The organization was founded in 1992 by a group of local volunteers and marine biologists who wanted to preserve the unique ecology of Southern California’s coastal area.

The OVWS works with local, state, and federal agencies, as well as various environmental organizations to monitor water quality, protect endangered species, and promote sustainable fishing practices. The organization also hosts a variety of educational programs, such as beach cleanups and lectures series, to raise awareness about marine conservation.

OVWS is committed to protecting the local marine environment through their research, education, conservation, and restoration efforts. They are actively involved in the development of local marine protected areas, and regularly conduct research to monitor the health of the local marine habitats.

The OVWS also works to protect local whale populations, and has been a vocal advocate for the protection of the endangered Southern California blue whale. The organization regularly organizes whale-watching trips, and partners with local businesses to promote environmentally friendly practices.

The Ojai Valley Whale Society is an invaluable asset to the Ojai community, and serves as an important reminder of our connection to the ocean and our responsibility to protect and preserve the local marine environment.
