The Glidden Area Historical Society Inc. is an organization dedicated to preserving the history of the Glidden area in Wisconsin. Founded in 1983, the organization is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the history and culture of the area and providing educational opportunities to the community.
The Society includes a museum, which holds a variety of artifacts, documents, photographs, and other items related to the history of the area. Outside of the museum, the Society owns and maintains two historic sites – the Glidden Logging Camp and the Glidden Schoolhouse. The Logging Camp site is a re-created logging camp from the late 1800s, and the Schoolhouse is a one-room schoolhouse that was built in 1910 and served the local community until it closed in the 1960s.
The Society offers educational programs to both school groups and community members. These programs focus on the history, culture, and nature of the area. The Society also hosts an annual fall festival, which includes activities such as hay rides, historic demonstrations, and music.
The Society is run by a volunteer board of directors and is supported by private donations, grants, and fundraising events. They are dedicated to preserving the history and culture of the Glidden area, and ensuring that the community has access to educational opportunities.
