The Courtland Historical Foundation (CHF) is a non-profit organization located in Courtland, Alabama. Founded in 1981, CHF is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Courtland’s rich history and culture. CHF operates a museum in the center of town which showcases Courtland’s history and culture through artifacts, photographs and other media. CHF also hosts a variety of educational events throughout the year, including lectures, guided tours, reenactments and living history events. In addition, CHF works to promote the economic development of Courtland through a variety of initiatives, such as historic preservation, cultural tourism and historic district revitalization. CHF also works to build partnerships among businesses, organizations and citizens to ensure that Courtland remains a vibrant and active community. CHF also provides educational programs for local schools and universities, as well as public outreach and volunteer opportunities. Through its efforts, CHF works to ensure that Courtland’s history and culture are preserved for generations to come.

US31 South on Steamboat Bill Hudson Bridge Crossing the Tennessee River on US Route 31 into Decatur, Alabama. This truss girder bridge is known as the Bill "Steamboat" Hudson Bridge. Used a my old manual Canon FD 50mm f/1.8 lens with a Fotasy FD-EOSR adaptor. Probably set this in the range of f/11-13-16 because there's wide depth of field on this shot. Set the focus near infinity, crank up the ISO to 1000 on a sunny day, and it's still a winner, even for something manufactured in 1978.

Decatur, AL Lighthouse destroyed by Tornado I have a lot of photos in my "upload to Flickr backlog." Sometimes that causes me to wait a long time to upload the photo. This one was taken spring of 2017. As I was doing research on the subject of the photo, I couldn't find much about it, such as the age, or if it's functional or just decorative. As it turn out, I found out bad news on this one as it destroyed by a tornado one week ago, on Jan 13, 2023 - an EF-1 which hit Moulton and Decatur.
