BLACK POINT HISTORIC PRESERVE

LAKE GENEVA, WI

Black Point Historic Preserve is a historic site located on the southern shore of Lake Geneva in Wisconsin. The site was established in 1888 and has been preserved as a testament to the Gilded Age of America. The property consists of a 20-room Queen Anne-style mansion, a boathouse, and a small cottage, all of which sit on 13 acres of land.

The mansion was built for Chicago beer baron Conrad Seipp, who intended it to be a summer home for his family. The house features elaborate woodwork, stained glass windows, and ornate furnishings, all of which were typical of the era. The boathouse, located on the lakefront, was used to store the family's boats and is now used for events and tours.

The cottage, located on the property's hillside, was used as a guesthouse and is now used as a museum. It features exhibits on the history of the Seipp family and the mansion, as well as the history of Lake Geneva and the surrounding area.

Black Point Historic Preserve is open for tours from May to October and is a popular destination for history buffs, architecture enthusiasts, and anyone interested in the Gilded Age. The site also hosts special events throughout the year, including weddings, concerts, and holiday celebrations.
