The Historical Society of Walworth & Big Foot Prairie is a Wisconsin-based nonprofit organization that works to preserve, share and protect the area's rich history and culture. Founded in 1969, it serves the communities of Walworth, Big Foot Prairie and surrounding areas. The society is committed to collecting and preserving the artifacts, photographs and other materials that document the history of the region.
The Historical Society of Walworth & Big Foot Prairie is located in the historic courthouse building in downtown Walworth and is open to the public on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Its collections include artifacts from the Native American tribes that once inhabited the area, as well as photographs and documents from early settlers. The society hosts lectures, exhibits and other programs throughout the year, and also offers educational opportunities for students and adults.
In addition to its collections, the Historical Society of Walworth & Big Foot Prairie also maintains three buildings on its grounds, including a museum, a research library and a gift shop. The museum contains artifacts and photographs from the area's past, while the research library contains a variety of books, documents, newspapers and other materials related to the area's history. The gift shop offers souvenirs, books and other items related to the area's history.
