Mountain Charlie Chapter 1850 E Clampus Vitus (ECV) is an organization dedicated to the study and preservation of Western American history. It is based in San Jose, California and was founded in 1945. The chapter was named after James Charles (Mountain Charlie) McLaren, a local pioneer and one of the most colorful characters in California's early history.

The mission of ECV is to celebrate and preserve the culture, history, and traditions of the American West. This is done by educating members and the public about the rich and often overlooked history of the region. ECV also works to recognize and honor those who have contributed to the region's history.

ECV is an all-volunteer organization, with members from all backgrounds and walks of life. Members are united by a common interest in Western American history and a desire to honor those who have made significant contributions to the region's development. The organization is also dedicated to providing service to the community, such as clean-up and restoration efforts at historic sites.

But the females were only a little bit higher in the canopy and I did not see any mating attempts. I don't know what explains this odd behavior.
