The Murray Hill Pottery Works is a historic pottery manufacturer in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It was established in 1885 by Scottish immigrant and pottery maker, William Murray. The company was known for producing a wide variety of utilitarian pottery including crocks, jugs, and pitchers. Its production was primarily utilitarian and included pieces such as cream pitchers, chamber pots, butter churns, and flowerpots.

The company was located on the corner of Prospect Avenue and Murray Hill in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The company remained in the Murray family until the death of William Murray in 1909. It then passed on to his sons, Charles and William Murray, who continued to run the business until 1922.

Murray Hill Pottery Works has been credited with introducing a new type of pottery glaze called “candy stripe”, which was used to decorate its pieces. Candy stripe is a type of opalescent glaze that creates a marbled effect in the finished piece. The company also produced a popular line of redware pottery, which featured a black and tan glaze.

Murray Hill Pottery Works was one of the most successful pottery businesses in Milwaukee and produced pottery for more than three decades. It closed in 1922, but its pottery is still sought after by antique collectors. The company’s pottery is highly sought after and is often featured in art shows, collections, and museums.
