Friends of Spring Hill Cemetery Park Inc. is a non-profit organization located in Charleston, West Virginia. The organization was established in 2006 with the mission to preserve and protect Spring Hill Cemetery Park and its historic monuments, as well as to promote understanding and appreciation of the cemetery’s history and significance among the public.
The cemetery was founded in 1856, and was originally known as the Charleston City Cemetery. It is the final resting place of many of the city’s most prominent citizens and contains monuments to the Civil War, World War I, and the Korean War. The cemetery also contains the graves of several veterans of the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812.
Friends of Spring Hill Cemetery Park Inc. works to preserve and protect the cemetery by providing educational programs, sponsoring special events, and performing maintenance and preservation work on the grounds. The organization also works to promote the cemetery’s history by hosting tours and lectures, as well as exhibiting artifacts from the cemetery.
The organization is open to anyone who is interested in preserving and protecting the cemetery, and all donations are tax-deductible. Friends of Spring Hill Cemetery Park Inc. is dedicated to preserving and protecting the cemetery and its monuments, as well as promoting greater understanding and appreciation of its history and significance among the public.
