The Northern Kittitas County Historical Society, located in Cle Elum, Washington, is dedicated to preserving the history of Kittitas County and the surrounding areas. Since its founding in 1978, the Society has worked to collect, protect, and share the stories of the people and events that have shaped the region.
The Society’s collection includes a variety of artifacts and archives, including photographs, newspapers, business records, and more. The Society also preserves and displays a variety of historic buildings and sites, such as the historic Cle Elum Depot, a restored historic hotel, a former schoolhouse, and a one-room schoolhouse.
The Society hosts a variety of educational and cultural programs, including school field trips, lectures, guided tours, and other public events. The Society also publishes and distributes a quarterly newsletter, The Kittitas County Historical Times, which features stories, photographs and other historical information.
In addition, the Society is actively involved in the Cle Elum community, providing support to local organizations and events. The Society is an active member of the Washington State Historical Society and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
