Washington Art Consortium is a non-profit organization located in Bellingham, Washington. Founded in 1975, the consortium's mission is to provide access to contemporary art to museums and other cultural institutions throughout the Pacific Northwest.

India Sculpture by Anthony Caro. Made from the steel of an old ship named India. It was donated to WWU around 1978; my graduation year. A memory, at that time was that people questioned it's value. $55,000 in 1978 dollars. One member of WWU's Art Acquisition Committee was quoted as saying, "a good price for a Caro Sculpture." My own thinking was that much of the price was related to the name of the artist. Celebrity value. Still, the money came from a private foundation. Being made from scrap iron, some folks wondered, "why this and not necessarily something else?" What's the point? Like so many things, it was a campus controversy. For a few weeks after it's installation, amateur artists dug holes and installed various works of art on campus grounds. A small littering of "people's art." One morning, a large pile of old tires was left in Red Square with a sign on it reading "Pakistan." Campus maintenance staff removed that. As I view India, now so many years later, it looks like it has endured well. Built to last; like so many of the buildings on campus. It was well built.
Tallest building in Bellingham. They call it Bellingham Towers, but it's only 1 tower. Built in 1928. Was a hotel. Now offices.
