The North Slope Historic District Inc. in Tacoma, Washington is a non-profit preservation organization dedicated to preserving the architectural, historical and cultural heritage of the North Slope Historic District in Tacoma. Founded in 1985, the organization was established to protect the historic buildings, homes and commercial structures in the district from development and demolition, and to create a greater appreciation for the district’s unique history and culture.

The North Slope Historic District is located on the north side of Tacoma’s downtown, and includes the Old City Hall, Union Station, City Hall Park, and the historic residences along A Street. This area was once home to some of Tacoma’s most influential citizens and was the original site of the city’s first commercial district.

The North Slope Historic District Inc. works to ensure the preservation of the district by advocating for the protection of its buildings, offering educational programs and activities, and hosting events such as walking tours, lectures and workshops. The organization also offers grants and scholarships to support the restoration and preservation of the buildings in the district.

In addition to promoting the preservation of the district, the North Slope Historic District Inc. is dedicated to creating a greater appreciation and understanding of Tacoma’s history, culture and architecture. The organization sponsors lectures, film screenings and other special events to provide the public with a greater understanding of the history of the district and its importance to Tacoma’s past and present.
