GOLDENDALE OBSERVATORY

Goldendale Observatory is a public astronomical observatory located in Goldendale, Washington. It is situated on a 5-acre hilltop site, about 2 miles north of downtown Goldendale, at an elevation of 2,100 feet. The observatory was opened to the public in 1973 and has been operated by the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission since 1980.

The observatory is equipped with several telescopes, including a 24.5-inch Cassegrain reflector telescope, which is the largest telescope in the Pacific Northwest. It also has a 90mm Coronado solar telescope, a 4-inch refractor telescope, and several smaller telescopes for public use. The facility is open to the public year-round, and visitors can attend astronomy lectures, planetarium shows, and stargazing events.

In addition to its telescopes, the observatory also features a planetarium dome, which seats up to 60 people. The dome houses a Spitz SciDome XD digital projector, which can project high-resolution images of the night sky, as well as educational videos and multimedia presentations.
