SPOKANE VALLEY HERITAGE MUSEUM

Spokane County Courthouse, Broadway Avenue, Spokane, WA Built in 1894-1895, this Renaissance Revival-style building was designed by Willis Ritchie and built by David B. Fotheringham to serve as the Spokane County Courthouse.  The building features a buff brick exterior with decorative patterned brickwork, quoins, one-over-one double-hung windows, wall dormers, terra cotta trim, decorative trim surrounds and arched transoms at the entrance bays, cylindrical towers at the corners of the end wings with conical roofs and finials, a tall main tower with roman arched and gothic arched bays, corinthian pilasters, corner cylindrical towers with conical roofs, balconies at the top, and an octagonal hipped roof below a rooftop flagpole, a hipped roof atop most of the building, and a series of more modern rear annexes that house additional courtrooms and office space.  The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
