The Fayette Area Historical Initiative (FAHI) is a non-profit organization located in Martinsville, Virginia. Founded in 1997, FAHI is dedicated to preserving, protecting, and promoting the historical and cultural heritage of the Fayette area. FAHI works to bring together city and county governments, businesses, and private individuals to promote and educate the public on the history and culture of the region.
FAHI has several initiatives and activities to achieve its goals, such as historical exhibits, educational programs, and publications. FAHI also works with local organizations, such as the Martinsville-Henry County Historical Society, to promote and foster an appreciation for the area’s history. FAHI also works with other organizations, such as the Virginia Department of Historic Resources, to preserve and protect significant historical properties in the Fayette area.
FAHI has also established a museum in the former First National Bank Building in downtown Martinsville. The museum features exhibits on the history of the area, including its natural and industrial heritage. FAHI also works to promote the region’s culture through its annual Fayette Area Cultural Festival, which includes music, art, and food.
Through its various activities, FAHI works to preserve and promote the area’s history and culture and foster a sense of pride in the Fayette area.
