The Historic Richmond Foundation-The William Byrd Branch of APVA (Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving, protecting and promoting the historic architecture, sites and culture of Richmond, VA. Founded in 1889, the organization works to protect and promote the city’s historic buildings and sites, as well as to foster an appreciation of the city’s history and culture.

The Foundation is named after William Byrd II, a prominent early Virginia colonist who served as the first Secretary of the Colony. The Foundation serves as the local branch of the APVA, the organization that Byrd founded.

The Foundation is involved in a number of activities, including conservation and restoration of historic sites, research and education, and collaboration with other organizations and individuals. The Foundation also works to protect and promote Richmond’s architectural heritage through its annual Historic Homes Tour and other events.
