The Martinsville-Henry County Historical Society (MHCHS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the history of Martinsville and Henry County, Virginia. The MHCHS was established in 1966, and since then it has worked to collect, preserve, and interpret the history of the region. The Society works to collect photographs and documents, as well as artifacts that help to tell the story of the area’s history. The MHCHS also collects oral histories from people who lived in the area, and shares these histories with the public through exhibitions, lectures, and other public programming.

The MHCHS is headquartered in the historic Patrick Henry Hotel in downtown Martinsville. The Society’s museum displays artifacts, documents, and photographs from the region’s past. The museum also houses the Society’s extensive research library, which includes books, periodicals, newspapers, and other materials related to the history of Martinsville and Henry County. The museum also offers a variety of educational programming, including lectures, workshops, and field trips.

The MHCHS is committed to ensuring that the history of Martinsville and Henry County is preserved for future generations. The Society works to promote the region’s heritage through its collections, exhibitions, and educational programming. The MHCHS also works with organizations, businesses, and individuals to protect and preserve the region’s historical sites.
