The Pleasant Valley Historical Society (PVHS) is a non-profit organization based in Camarillo, California. The society was established in 1962 to preserve and promote the history of the Pleasant Valley region of Ventura County. PVHS strives to preserve the historical buildings, artifacts, documents and photographs of the area.

The society operates a museum located in the historic Hartley-Brown House, which was built in 1891 by Pleasant Valley pioneer James Brown. The museum features a number of exhibits about the area’s history, including an original adobe structure built in 1871, a collection of artifacts from the early settlers, and a room dedicated to the Chumash Native Americans.

PVHS also sponsors a variety of events throughout the year such as their annual Pioneer Day celebration and the Christmas on the Ranch event. PVHS also offers workshops and classes on a variety of topics related to the region’s history.

In addition to the museum, PVHS also owns and maintains other historic buildings in the area, such as the historic Hueneme Schoolhouse and the historic Mott House. PVHS also works to preserve other historic sites like the Chumash Painted Cave, which is the oldest known rock art site in North America.

The PVHS is an important part of the community and serves as a reminder of the area’s rich history. PVHS provides educational opportunities that foster an appreciation for the region’s history and culture.
