The Grand Lodge AF and AM of Virginia, located in Richmond, is a fraternal organization that seeks to bring together Freemasons from all over the state. Founded in 1778, the Grand Lodge is the oldest and largest fraternal organization in Virginia. Its membership is composed of over 40,000 Freemasons from all over the state.
The Grand Lodge AF and AM of Virginia promotes the core principles of Freemasonry: brotherly love, relief, and truth. It is dedicated to promoting the spiritual and moral values of its members through charitable works and educational opportunities. The organization also promotes the development of leadership skills among its members, and encourages its members to take part in political, social, and civic activities.
The Grand Lodge AF and AM of Virginia is divided into six Grand Districts. Each Grand District is composed of several Lodges and is governed by a Grand Master. The Grand Lodge AF and AM of Virginia also includes a number of other organizations, such as the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons, the Grand Council of Cryptic Masons, and the Grand Commandery of Knights Templar.
In addition to its charitable and educational activities, the Grand Lodge AF and AM of Virginia also hosts a number of events throughout the year. These include the Grand Masters Ball, the Annual Communication, and the Grand Masters Banquet. The Grand Lodge AF and AM of Virginia is also involved in a number of other initiatives, such as the Masonic Home of Virginia, the Masonic Library and Museum of Virginia, and the Masonic Charities.
