Citizens for Downtown (CFD) is a non-profit organization located in Harrisonburg, VA that works to enhance the quality of life in the downtown area. CFD was founded in 1995 with the mission of promoting and protecting the downtown area, from the development of new businesses to the preservation of historic buildings. The organization is comprised of a board of directors, with a staff of two full-time employees, and a network of volunteers.

CFD's main focus is to create a vibrant and sustainable downtown area for the community. To achieve this goal, the organization works to attract new businesses and developers, as well as maintain and increase the number of existing businesses. Additionally, CFD works to preserve the historic character of the downtown area by advocating for the renovation of old buildings, as well as the development of new ones.

CFD also works to make downtown Harrisonburg an attractive destination for residents, visitors, and businesses. To this end, they plan and host a variety of events throughout the year, including an annual Fall Festival, a spring Art in the Park, and a summer Concert Series. CFD also provides support for the downtown area through educational programs, such as the Historic Preservation Program, and through economic development initiatives, such as the Downtown Business Development Program.

Overall, Citizens for Downtown is an important part of Harrisonburg’s community. Their work helps to ensure that the downtown area remains attractive and vibrant for years to come.

Carolina Wren in Virginia [Explored] I seldom visit the lake near my home that I don't hear the calls of one or more Carolina Wrens, <i>Thryothorus ludovicianus, </i>and this trip was no exception. They are also constantly coming through our yard and closely examining all the places where insects and other food can be found.
