TORPEDO FACTORY ART CENTER

The Torpedo Factory Art Center is a creative hub for artists located on the banks of the Potomac River in Alexandria, VA. Originally a naval munitions factory during World War II, the building was repurposed in 1974 to provide studio and exhibition space for artists.

Today, the Torpedo Factory Art Center is home to over 80 working artists and features 165 studios, seven galleries, two workshops, and a variety of art-related businesses. Visitors can explore the studios and watch artists at work, or purchase unique handmade pieces directly from the artists.

The center offers a diverse range of media, including painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, jewelry, fiber arts, and photography. The galleries showcase rotating exhibitions of contemporary art, as well as historic displays that highlight the building's industrial past.

In addition to its role as a thriving arts community, the Torpedo Factory Art Center also hosts a range of educational programs and events, including workshops, lectures, and performances. It is open seven days a week and offers free admission to the public.
