The building was constructed in 1895 by the Independent Order of Odd Fellows as a meeting hall and community center. In 1927, the building was purchased by the Harrison family, who operated a successful furniture store on the first floor for many years. The upper floors were used as a lodge hall, dance studio, and meeting space for various community organizations.

In 1987, the Bedford Historical Society purchased the building and undertook a major restoration project to preserve its architectural and historical significance. Today, the Harrison Building serves as the headquarters for the Bedford Historical Society, which is dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich history of the Bedford area.

Visitors to the Harrison Building can explore the museum exhibits on the first floor, which showcase artifacts and memorabilia from Bedford's past.
