LEE-FENDALL HOUSE

The Lee-Fendall House is a historic mansion located in Alexandria, Virginia. It was built in 1785 by Philip Richard Fendall II, a prominent lawyer and politician of his time. The house was later purchased by Robert E. Lee's father, Henry "Light-Horse Harry" Lee, and became the Lee family's residence for several years.
The mansion is a two-story brick building with a central hall plan and a Georgian-style architecture. The exterior features a large portico with six iconic columns, which gives the house an impressive and grand appearance. Inside, the house has been preserved with many of its original features, including ornate plasterwork, fireplaces, and period furnishings.
The Lee-Fendall House is now a museum and historic site open to the public. Visitors can take a guided tour of the house and learn about the history of the Lee family and their involvement in the American Revolution. The museum also offers educational programs, events, and exhibits related to the history of Alexandria and the greater Washington D.C. area.
