John Marsh Historic Trust Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Brentwood, California. The trust was established in 2004 to protect, preserve, and interpret the history of John Marsh, the pioneer of California's Central Valley. The trust is comprised of a Board of Directors, a staff of volunteers, and professional advisors.

John Marsh was a physician and the first American settler in the Central Valley. He established the first trading post and was responsible for the founding of the Pueblo of Los Angeles. The trust seeks to protect and preserve the legacy of this early pioneer by educating the public about his life and accomplishments.

The trust works to preserve the Marsh property, which includes over 600 acres of land and the Marsh House, a two-story home built in 1856. The trust also plans and hosts educational programs for visitors, including lectures, tours, and workshops. Additionally, the trust offers research and archiving services to the public, and it partners with local schools to provide educational programs for students.

The trust is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the history of John Marsh and to maintaining the integrity of the Marsh property. Its mission is to promote public awareness and appreciation of the legacy of this important pioneer.

UP 7208 - East Pleasanton The IOANP-5 rolls through East Pleasanton after inspecting hot wheels at Shinn just before Niles Tower. The delay caused the train to show up just as the sun was setting on the Bay Area with Mt. Diablo framed in the background just ahead of the lead locomotive.

UP 6232 - IOANP-31 On the last day of 2024, the daily Oakland-North Platte intermodal train roars through Radum between Pleasanton and Livermore underneath the abandoned aggregate silo between the ex-SP and ex-WP mainlines. The Radum spur is currently stuffed full of empty well cars for Lathrop on the far left. This area was also known as East Pleasanton on SP timetables. The lead locomotive is ex-SP 184.
Portrait of Naomi, 31 December 2024 Portrait of Naomi I took this afternoon as we took our usual walk around (three times around) the apartment complex for exercise and companionship. It takes almost exactly 15 minutes per loop so we got a nice 45 minute walk this afternoon. (She's wearing a hoodie I got from work - it fits her well.)
