Connecting with the Shimenawa Spirit I was invited to photograph an event at a Japanese school in Pleasanton, California. Two instructors came from Japan to teach Shimenawa, ornaments made of rice straws used for ritual purification in the Shinto religion. Shimenawa vary from a few centimeters to several meters.

I processed a balanced and a paintery HDR photos from a JPG exposure, blended them selectively, carefully adjusted the color balance and curves, and desaturated the image. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.
