Barrier Galveston Island is a barrier bar, growing and shrinking in geologic time with the rise and fall of the Oceans. I’m guessing that these posts were placed in the tidal zone as barriers to longshore car and truck traffic. Texas beaches belong to the public, with many access points for vehicles. It’s possible that they are a remnant of a structure destroyed by Hurricane Ike, but I never visited the East Beach in those days, don’t really know. I’ll offer a close-up on the Laughing Gull, eventually.
